Top Questions Asked to Our Support Team in 2019

Over the past year, the Geeks on Site professional support team has answered thousands of questions about computer and network support and repair. We have also conducted thousands of repairs on computers and networks throughout the United States. Here are some of the top questions our support team has been asked and our solutions to each one:

What do I do if I can only see a blue screen on my computer?

Geeks on Site suggests first checking to confirm that your monitor is properly connected and functional. On your keyboard, tap the F8 key to try to get to a boot screen with a Safe Mode option. If that works, you may have a problem with your video driver. If you can’t get into Safe Mode, download and burn a Linux Live CD. If you can do this successfully, chances are good that there are no problems with memory, the video card, or the motherboard. The problem is more likely to be with the hard drive or Windows installation. Try installing Windows again to see if your PC boots properly. If none of these solutions fix the problem, contact Geeks on Site to get to the root of the issue and have our professional support team repair your computer.

I just bought a new (or refurbished) PC; how do I set it up?

Geeks on Site can work with you at your home/business to help you get all of the programs you need installed and properly connect you to your Internet service and network.

How do I stop pop-ups?

Blocking these ads on your computer and cell phone is possible. The Geeks on Site support team can help you install a browser on your phone that blocks them in accordance with the phone’s manufacturer’s system. We can also install pop up ad blocking software on your computer after conducting a complete check to make sure these ads haven’t resulted in a malware infection. If we find an infection, we remove it prior to installing any new software.

I need help installing a wireless network.

Geeks on Site’s wireless network installation includes helping you configure your router and adapter and securing your network. We show you how to use your new network and how to prevent any possible attacks to it. In most cases, we can have one of our qualified technicians at your home within 24 hours and have your computer network running safely and securely during the visit. We work with both Windows and Apple operating systems.

How can you help me with data recovery?

Geeks on Site’s computer recovery process not only helps you find your lost files but it also prevents you from losing them again. Our experienced support team will provide the resources necessary to gather files and programs wiped out for whatever reason. In addition, we can also transfer some or all of your data to another source if the operating system has become corrupted, and also implement a backup solution for the future.

Why isn’t my PC booting up?

First, check that your power source is working and that your PC is connected to it. If all is working, your PC may have a problem with the motherboard, the case switch, or the central processing unit (CPU). Try bypassing the case switch to turn on the computer. If that doesn’t work, check the motherboard for any visible damage to its capacitors. The Geeks on Site support team has repaired these issues many times and can do so during a visit to your home or office.

My email is experiencing issues including missed email, slow email and sometimes I can’t send or receive. How do I fix these problems?

The Geeks on Site support team can check your email system to determine why these problems are occurring and help you create IMP accounts and/or re-enable accounts if necessary. We can also help you free up space in your PC to accommodate your email accounts.

The hardware on my PC doesn’t seem to be working properly, how can I check on it and get all of its problems fixed?

Geeks on Site can dispatch our support team to your home or business on the same day, in most cases. Our expert technicians will take a look at your hardware issues and can help you purchase the correct parts if a replacement is needed.

Why is my computer running slow?

When this happens, first reboot your computer to see if that will be a quick fix. If that doesn’t work, chances are good that your hard drive is too full and that is causing your computer to slow down. The Geeks on Site support team can help you reduce what’s on your hard drive, remove all of the files you no longer need, and put some others on an external hard drive. We will run your anti-virus and anti-spyware software to make sure that your computer is not infected and run a firewall application which may help to further increase your computer’s speed of operation.

I can’t connect to the Internet, how do I fix this?

The Geeks on Site support team will work with you to troubleshoot why any or all of your devices are having this problem. The issue could be anything from an issue with your Internet service provider (ISP) to a hardware issue with your router. You may want to start by checking with your ISP to ensure they are not experiencing issues.

Why do I need a monthly tune-up for my PC?

Monthly tune-ups confirm that your computer’s drives are working at full capacity. The Geeks on Site support team completes that task by using applications that enter your computer at the deepest levels and fix anything that appears to not be working well. We also remove software that’s no longer used and erase your browser’s history to ensure your privacy. In addition, we check that your antivirus software is working correctly and that the software you use is being updated properly.

I need to reinstall operating system software and some other software but don’t know how to make sure I am doing this properly.

The Geeks on Site support team can do this for you either remotely or via a home or office visit.
